Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the Weibo Video Downloader Chrome extension handles information.

Information handled by the extension

• Weibo website content. On weibo.com, the extension examines visible post structure, post links, and media metadata so it can show the Download action and identify the video or image set selected by the user. This processing happens in the browser. The extension does not read or collect Weibo passwords or authentication cookies.
• Weibo media requests. The extension retrieves user-selected media from Weibo and its media hosts, including sinaimg.cn and weibocdn.com. Video preparation and image ZIP creation happen locally. Post text, post URLs, account names, media URLs, filenames, downloaded files, and Weibo browsing history are not uploaded to our membership backend.
• Local extension data. Chrome local storage keeps the local calendar day and three successful downloads allowance, a randomly generated product-specific identifier beginning with wvd_, and a short-lived membership status and billing-end cache.
• Membership checks. The extension sends the opaque wvd_ identifier to our backend over HTTPS to check whether Pro access is active. It does not send Weibo post content, media, browsing history, filenames, or login credentials.
• Restore Purchase. If the user chooses Restore Purchase, the checkout email entered by the user is sent over HTTPS to our product-scoped backend to find the matching Weibo Video Downloader purchase. The extension does not save that email in Chrome storage.
• Payments. Paddle processes checkout and payment information under its own privacy policy. The extension does not receive or store full payment-card details.

How information is used

We use the information above only to provide the user-requested media download, create the selected image ZIP, enforce the three successful downloads available each local calendar day, confirm membership status, restore a purchase, prevent abuse, respond to support requests, and maintain the payment service.

Sharing and service providers

We do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or run analytics in the extension. Information is shared only with service providers needed to operate the product, including Paddle for checkout and billing and Cloudflare for hosting and security. Those providers may process technical request information, such as IP addresses, according to their own policies and our service configuration.

Retention

Local extension data remains in Chrome until the user clears the extension's storage or removes the extension. Purchase, membership, refund, and support records are retained only as reasonably necessary to provide access, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and meet accounting or legal obligations.

User choices

Users can stop all extension processing by disabling or removing the extension and can clear local extension data through Chrome. To ask about, correct, or delete information associated with a restored purchase or support request, contact us. Some billing records may need to be retained where required by law.

Permissions

The extension uses Chrome's downloads permission to save the requested video or image ZIP, offscreen to prepare media and create ZIP files outside the visible page, storage to keep the allowance, product identifier, and membership cache, and declarativeNetRequestWithHostAccess to add the Weibo referrer required by media hosts. Access to weibo.com adds the in-page action and reads user-selected post metadata. Access to sinaimg.cn and weibocdn.com retrieves the selected media. Access to sheetrules.xyz provides checkout, membership verification, and purchase restoration.

Limited Use

Use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use this information only to provide or improve the extension's single media-download purpose, do not use it for personalized advertising, and do not permit human access except with explicit user consent for support, for security, to comply with law, or for aggregated and anonymized internal operations.

Children

Weibo Video Downloader is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the extension or its service providers change. The effective date on this page will be updated when changes are published.
